“Positioned For Purpose BUT Not Over Purpose”

Esther 1-10

Many of us know the story about Queen Esther, how she went from a lowly Jewish girl to becoming queen and saving her people. God, though His name was never mentioned in the Book of Esther, His presence was extremely evident. God had positioned Esther for purpose but she never allowed her position to override her purpose. Being positioned to become queen was a blessing for Esther and I am sure it was something that she never thought would ever happen to her. When she got the news that Haman had put a plot in place to have all the Jews in the kingdom killed, Esther could have easily forgotten about her people; after all, she was now the queen. But her position as queen was not greater than her purpose of saving her people.

Have you considered your position in life? Now have you considered your purpose? How many times have you found yourself going down the path of purpose then position got in the way? Sometimes it happens by choice, sometimes by force, but either way, you lose sight of your purpose because of your position. When we allow position to override purpose, chaos usually happens. You may not notice it at first, but things began to transpire in a downward spiral. Your focus shifts and you find yourself becoming position driven instead of purpose driven. A position driven person focuses only on themselves and the position and the need for a greater position but the person that is purpose driven focuses has a vision, a dream or an aspiration to do the work that they love; their desire it to make an impact, not only for themselves, but for others. A position driven person will eventually run out of positions, but purpose, that’s forever.

Esther, the queen, that was her position, she never had another position but that did not matter because it was never about her position; it was all about her purpose!!! ~dws
